Use these key NHS resources to access full-text fast

 We recognise that NHS staff need easy, quick access to online full-text resources. You can access a wealth of resources and it is important to be able to access them efficiently so that you can apply improved knowledge and develop patient care. Ensure you use key resources to make sure you can get to full-text content quickly.

Start by checking these resources:

NHS OpenAthens username

Your NHS OpenAthens username unlocks full-text from a wide range of online resources. Most of our subscribed resources can be access by the single OpenAthens username.

NHS Knowledge and Library Hub

You can search the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub for full-text content. The Hub includes a wide range of NHS-subscribed resources, including articles, journals, databases and ebooks. You can execute a search across multiple resources. The results list will indicate the available full-text options, including requesting articles or ebooks from our Inter-Library Loan team. Browzine

Use Browzine to find articles where you have a reference. Browzine is a journals list. It displays journal issues and table of contents, including links to access options for online articles. Articles may be: freely available via open access, from subscribed content, from repositories or requested from the library service. LibKey Nomad

You can get instant full-text access options for journal articles found on the internet by installing the LibKey Nomad browser extension. LibKey Nomad adds icons to academic or publisher web pages, including Pubmed. Clicking the added LibKey Nomad icon or button gives you access options for the article.

Installing the LibKey extension is simple to do – follow the instructions given in the blog post below:

Google Scholar Library Links

Do you search on Google Scholar and want to get your full-text access straight away? You can link Google Scholar to the library journal holdings. This way you will see an icon indicating how you can access full-text articles. Follow the instructions on this blog to find out how to set up your library links:

NHS Resources web page

You can quickly reach NHS Resources by checking the NHS Resources web page on the Health Library website. You’ll find a full-list of resources with links to the log in options where available.

V is for visit us

Why not come along and visit us? We are located on the ground floor, in the Clinical Education Centre, at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. Here are some instructions on how to get here, along with a Google Street map view. We’re in the really distinctive round building you can see from the A34. The library is usually a quiet place to study or catch up on some paperwork. You can use the silent study room if you need. We also have NHS and Keele networked computers, as well as provision for photocopying, scanning and printing.
