Refworks will be updating to a new version at the end of this year. In preparation for this move you can now try out the new version – please see the Campus Library Refworks web page for more information, including guides and video. Note that Refworks is only available to Keele users via their Athens username.

MireSoft has recently released a new free referencing tool for PubMed called Cite Smart . Cite Smart allows you to build your own reference library from PubMed, search PubMed direct from your Word document and will insert references as appropriate. Keele University has recently purchased Refworks as the new citation management software package. Access to Refworks is through the Keele Athens account , making this a far easier package to work with from home or at campus. Reference Manager will still remain on the Keele network but is no longer the supported software. Reference Manager courses will still be on going as part of the Health Library training programme . Support pages, and library based training will be available in the near future.

Please be aware that it is Keele policy that all outstanding library fines are cleared prior to the start of the new academic year on 29th September. No new items can be issues or renewed until all monies owing have been paid. Note that from the week beginning 8th September if you wish to renew any items, they should be brought back to the library in person. The change over from vacation time to term time on the library issue system requires that library staff must manually return and re-issue books in order to renew them. As all books borrowed by Keele students are due either on the 29th or 30th September, it may be advisable to bring all renewals in prior to these dates to avoid lengthy queues.
