Support for NHS Researchers from the Health Library

The Health Library is here to support researchers working for our NHS partners. New at UHNM – here’s how the Health Library can help

If you are just starting a new position at UHNM, we’d like to tell you how the library service can help you in your work. Coronavirus / Covid-19 Restrictions At the time of writing this blog post the library service is still operating under coronavirus / covid-19 restrictions. The building is currently closed. This means that many of our services are now operating remotely online. Deaf Awareness Week 4th - 10th May 2020

An estimated 900,000 people in the UK have severe or profound hearing loss. There are 12 million people with hearing loss across the UK, that's around one in six of us. There are 50,000 children with hearing loss in the UK. Around half are born with hearing loss while the other half lose their hearing during childhood. The UK Council on Deafness was first founded in 1993 and is the national umbrella organisation for charities and professional bodies working in the field of deafness. Deaf Awareness Week aims to promote the positive aspects of deafness, promote social inclusion and raise awareness of the huge range of local organisations that support deaf people and their family and friends. The theme of this year's campaign is “acquired deafness”.
