Health Literacy Training - book your place

 Improve communication with your patients to improve their health outcomes. Book your place on our Health Literacy Awareness course to learn more. This session, accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health UK (RSPH), aims to: introduce you to the concept of health literacy; consider the impact low health literacy can have on your work, your patients, and the NHS; and explore practical methods that can be used to help improve health literacy and the patient experience. Training on Ovid Medline

 New dates are available to book on our Searching Ovid Medline training course. Searching Ovid Medline Thinking of writing your own research paper but unsure where to begin? This one-hour course will help you develop a robust search strategy which can be transferred into other databases for maximum paper retrieval. Run by UHNM and Keele Librarians, this course will help you build the ‘Literature review’ section of your paper using Ovid Medline. This course is aimed at NHS staff and Keele academics and researchers working on NHS projects. You will require an NHS OpenAthens username. Ovid Medline training for NHS Researchers

Thinking of writing your own research paper but unsure where to begin? This one-hour course will help you develop a robust search strategy which can be transferred into other databases for maximum paper retrieval. Run by UHNM and Keele Librarians, this course will help you build the ‘Literature review’ section of your paper using Ovid Medline. By the end of this workshop, you should be able to: Develop and run your own research question Screen the title and abstract of relevant papers Know how to obtain the full text Save your search and journal articles Download your search results in a file (ready for uploading in screening or reference software) Set up an alert for new research recently added. Get expert help from our training team so that you get great quality evidence and make the most of our resources. We have a range of Training opportunities to help you to get to grips with services and resources on offer at the Health Library. Most training is currently being delivered remotely online. Keele University Students Medicine, midwifery and nursing students can book training to help them to develop their information skills and get the best evidence for their assignments and dissertation. KnowledgeShare drop-in sessions for NHS staff at North Staffs Combined Healthcare

 Join one of the drop-in sessions running in June to learn more about KnowledgeShare and how you can sign-up for personalised evidence updates. These sessions will be run on MS Teams by our NHS Outreach Librarian, Diana. They are intended for NHS staff working at North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare. Need some help setting up a project? Want to improve your team's skills to take on new activities?  The Health Library can develop a bespoke training programme to help get you and your team off to a good start when looking at research activities. Here's an example of how we can help. One of our training and support librarians supported a member of staff at UHNM; She developed a bespoke series of training sessions over a 4 week period covering: searching primary and secondary databases, critical appraisal of RCTs and qualitative literature, searching for systematic reviews and grey literature.  In addition a number of links were sent for follow-up reading, free e-tutorials provided by the library, examples of data extraction and PRISMA flowcharts, links to follow-up services that the library could offer.
