Migraine Awareness Week 6th – 12th September 2020

A migraine is usually a moderate or severe headache felt as a throbbing pain on 1 side of the head. Many people also have symptoms such as feeling sick, being sick and increased sensitivity to light or sound. Migraine is a common health condition, affecting around 1 in every 5 women and around 1 in every 15 men. They usually begin in early adulthood. The Migraine Trust’s 2020 campaign “#GiveUpForMigraine” is linked to the belief that migraines are triggered by certain things e.g. alcohol or hormones. Everyone’s experience is different, and some things may be due to the migraine itself rather than a separate trigger. However, many people who suffer from migraines avoid certain things to try and help their migraine. Therefore, the campaign asks friends and family members of migraine sufferers to give up something they like doing for a month and donate the money they would normally spend instead. For more information surrounding migraines, please visit The Migraine Trust and NHS
