Current Awareness Feeds Update

A number of current awareness feeds have now been updated: Child Health NHS Commissioning Dental, Oral & Maxillofacial Care Diabetes Elderly Care ENT If you are already subscribing to these email updates there should be no need  to change your subscription.  New subscribers can request an email update from the current awareness topic page. The feeds  are now combined using feed.informer rather than Yahoo.Pipes.

Current Awareness Update - A & E News

The A and E News current awareness feed has now been updated. If you are already subscribing to this email update there should be no need to change your subscription.  New subscribers can request an email update here . This awareness feed covers the latest research from ejournals subscribed for our NHS users. We also have an alternative feed covering other A&E related ejournals .

Keeping up to date

Did you know that you can now view the latest updates from NHS Choices, NICE, and BBC Health news on the Health Library website ? Simply click the menu button on the top left of the Health Library news box to choose which update to read. Contact the library to find out more about current awareness updates or visit the RSS directory on the National Library for Health for further sources and tutorials.

TOC alerts

From 31st December, TDnet (MyJournals) will be replaced by the new NLH A-Z list. Please ensure that all journal table of content (TOC) alerts created via TDnet have been transfered across to Zetoc Alerts service or re-created using RSS feeds . The Zetoc service is available to both NHS and Keele Athens account holders. Please contact Susan by emailing s.w.smith@lib.keele.ac.uk or on (01782) 556581 for further information or assistance.

New training timetable

The latest library based training timetable for April to June 2008 is now available on the Health Library website . New courses include current awareness using RSS technology and refresher literature search training on the new Search 2.0 interface. Search 2.0 training will be open to all NHS staff as well as all Keele nursing and medicine staff and students. Priority will be given to CINAHL database users as this will be the first database to be fully released on the new interface. The Dialog interface will be available through until the end of June. There will be a reduction in the number of library run literature sessions, until the full transition to the new interface is complete. Please contact the library if you have any queries or urgent training needs.

NLH Feed directory

As part of the ongoing improvements, the National Library for Health (NLH) has reorganised and improved the search capacity on the health related RSS feed directory . The directory can now be used to search for latest news articles posted within the last 90 days, or for RSS feeds to receive news updates on your areas of interest. The RSS directory is available free to all. Simply view the feed, then cut and paste into an RSS reader e.g. Bloglines or Google reader . If you hold an NHS Athens account, then by logging into the NLH website, you can update the feeds directly into My Updates or My Links sections of My Library to receive regular current awareness updates. Quick access to favourite journals for NHS staff

MyJournals (TDNet) provides an A-Z list of journals available electronically to NHS staff. The list can be used to set table of content alerts as they become available. Adding alerts through MyJournals will also add the journal title to My Favourite Journals (accessible via NHS Athens login via the National Library for Health ). This list will allow you to quickly browse all the issues of your favourite journals from one page. The service will shortly be available where by you can select the RSS icon or 'add to MyLibrary' to add the table of content feed direct to My Update section of My Library . Please contact the library for further information of accessing electronic journals or keeping up to date using RSS feeds.
