Ebsco is changing for NHS users. Act now to save your content!

Ebsco is changing the interface for its databases, such as Cinahl and Medline. These databases are used for running literature searches. The platform for ebsco databases is also called ebscohost. The change is expected to take place on the 14 th July. Have you saved searches or search alerts? You will need to act to avoid losing things you have saved. Why is EBSCOhost changing? There has been little change to EBSCO databases over a number of years.   EBSCO say the new version will offer an enhanced experience and allow the addition of new features. What isn’t changing? Your access to EBSCO databases will continue to be via the Health library website and your existing NHS OpenAthens login.   The account you use to save things (My EBSCO) will be retained although some content will be lost if you do not act. What do I need to do?   Will I lose my saved searches? If you do not use EBSCOhost or ebsco databases then no action is required. If you do use EBSCOhos...

Ebsco databases (Cinahl and Medline) will be changing for NHS users

 The NHS will be moving to a new version of the EBSCOhost interface used to search journal literature including the CINAHL database.  The transition is expected to take place on the 14 th July.  Action may be required if you have have saved searches and regular alerts set up. You can continue to access the databases from the Health Library website , using your NHS OpenAthens username. We will share opportunities to learn more about how to search on the new EBSCOhost shortly. Some FAQs have been created to support the change – please do look and take action to ensure you do not lose saved work. What is happening to EBSCOhost and what do I need to do as a user?  

Training on Ovid Medline

 New dates are available to book on our Searching Ovid Medline training course. Searching Ovid Medline Thinking of writing your own research paper but unsure where to begin? This one-hour course will help you develop a robust search strategy which can be transferred into other databases for maximum paper retrieval. Run by UHNM and Keele Librarians, this course will help you build the ‘Literature review’ section of your paper using Ovid Medline. This course is aimed at NHS staff and Keele academics and researchers working on NHS projects. You will require an NHS OpenAthens username. NHS access to AMED has moved

 AMED is the  Allied and complementary medicine database, providing abstracts covering subjects within allied health therapies as well as some nursing topics. This has previously been provided to NHS staff via the Ovid platform. Access to this database has now moved to the Proquest Dialog platform; note that this is different from the Proquest platform that we currently use for other databases. AMED is provided by NHS England as part of the NHS core content collection. Proquest provide additional help to using their resources on this website . All relevant links have been updated in the NHS Resources page on the Health Library website . You will need your NHS openAthens login to access this database. Act now! NHS database searching is changing

 HDAS the Healthcare Databases Advanced Search facility will close 31 st March 2022. After this date, all your saved searches and alerts will be deleted . Export your saved searches or alerts NOW ! When it’s gone, it’s gone. D Is for Databases

 Get good quality, healthcare specialist information and research quickly – search our databases. What are databases? Database contain bibliographic information around a wide range of, often subject specialist, journals. You can use a range of tools available via the database interface to search for articles on your topic. Tools include: free-text searching, thesaurus or subject term searching, options to combine keywords and searches, and filters such as date of publication and patient characteristics to focus your search. Most databases allow you to set up alerts so that you are notified when new material is added and you can save and share your search results. Here is a quick run-down of how you can access the NHS-subscribed online resources you need: Log In You will need your NHS OpenAthens username and password to get access to subscribed resources. Update to Ebsco Medline Subscription for NHS Users

We have changed our subscription to the Ebsco Medline database from the "Complete" version to the "Full-Text" version. Note: You may now not be able to access the full-text of some ejournals you used before The Full-text version does not mean that all journals it contains are available as current full-text journals You can access all NHS subscribed resources from our healthcare Resources web page .
