Learn about our resources and develop your skills - Information Skills Training for NHS Staff

If you’re not sure what resources you have access to or how to find the best information quickly, then check out our training programme to find out how we can help you. We have a range of courses where you can learn about evidence-based, healthcare-specific resources and develop the skills to find and appraise the information you find. Training can be delivered at the Health Library or in your department; in group sessions or via a one-to-one personalised service. We have rearranged the menus to our etutorials so that it is quicker and easier for you to find them. You can find our Getting Started etutorials by resource type now and we’ve streamlined our list of Information Skills etutorials . Our etutorials can help you to find and use our most popular resources as well as support the development of your information searching skills.

Learning Library Skills Online

We have developed a range of online learning modules to help you to use our facilities, services and resources effectively. These are mainly aimed at our new nursing students but anyone can have a look to see if they can help. It wont take long to have a look; most last only a few minutes and you can jump to the section you need. We’ve included presentations, videos and quizzes for you to have a go yourself. Get started with our Welcome Tour to help to learn all about what we can do to for you. Then check out the Finding Resources module to help you to locate the resource you need. The Using Resources section will give you a basic introduction to getting started with books, journals and databases. Once you gain more confidence try our Information Skills section to learn how to search for information effectively. Look in the Library for our leaflets and bookmarks.
