Discover even more resources in the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub!

We’ve added even more resources to the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub. The print books at the Health Library (Royal Stoke) and the Health Library at County, and more e-books can now be found in the Hub.   What does it mean? When you carry out a search in the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub, print books and e-books from our library catalogue LibrarySearch will be included in the results; along with the items from our other NHS resources.   If you wish to narrow the results down to just the items from our library catalogue   – click on the ‘Library catalogue only’ limiter on the left hand side of the screen.   This is also the best option to use if you want to restrict your results to view the print stock from both health libraries.   If you wish to filter the results to just the print stock from a particular library - scroll down the left hand side of the screen to ‘Library Location’. Use Library Search to search our Book collection

Library Search allows you to search our book collection. Use the simple search box to enter your search terms and select from the filter options on the left-hand-side to focus your search results. Screen-shot of an example search on Library Search You will be able to find books from Keele University Campus Library, LERC at County (Stafford) as well as the Health Library. You can request an item from any library be sent to the Health Library for you to pick up. Books are automatically renewed for most member groups, although you may receive requests to return items. Please check your email account for any requests from the library. If the title you need is already on loan by someone else then you can submit a request so that it is saved for you. You can log in to your account to check the items you have on loan, make any renewals or submit any requests.

New Library Search LIVE!

The new library catalogue system – Library Search – is now live! You can use Library Search to search for library resources as well as access your library account. Find out more about Library Search on our website . Your Library Account Your library account has been moved to the new system. Your current loans have been automatically moved over and we’re wiping all fines up to the 29th June. You can find more information about borrowing books on our website . You may experience some disruption to services as we familiarise ourselves with the system, so please bear with us. New Library System - expected live Friday 1st July

The installation of the new Library Search system (replacement for the Catalogue system) is expected to take place 1st July. Over the implementation period 1st to 4th July please check the Keele Campus home page for details of where to search library resources and how to access your library account. We will update our pages as soon as possible. Note: NHS users can still access NHS-subscribed resources via the Healthcare Resources page .

Changes to the library catalogue and your library account

The Health Library and Keele University are changing to a new library system and catalogue. Our new catalogue ‘Library Search’ will be available for you to use from 4th July. As part of the change – the way library loans are managed will change from 4th July onwards. To keep track of your due dates, you will need to log into your library account online by: Going to the library website www.keele.ac.uk/healthlibrary Click ‘Library Search’. Click on ‘Sign in’ in the top right hand corner, and click ‘NHS users’ in the next screen. The credentials you will need to sign in to your account will be the same as you currently use – your library card barcode is your User ID. Once signed in click on ‘My Account’ and your list of current loans and due dates will display. App of the Month – the Health Library

Here is our App of the Month for November. Do you know that you can access your library account and search for books using your mobile devices? It is a bit complicated – you start with the Keele University app which has a section for the libraries. This will then also direct you to the Library Anywhere app and the Catalogue. For a quick step by step guide check the help page on our website . Finding Books at the Health Library

Automated Renewals Service available

You can now renew your library loans via an automated telephone service. Call the renewals number 01782 733230. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Use either your Keele card number or your NHS library barcode number; you’ll need to add a # at the end. You can list your loans, renew them, as well as learn of any other information about your library account.

Renewal Login Screen Updated

Campus library have updated the login page that you use to login to your library account to renew your books. Screen-shot of Updated Login Page Keele University staff and students should use the boxes on the left and should enter their computer username and password. Our NHS users should use the boxes on the right and should still use their name and library card number. If anyone experiences any problems please let Campus library or the Health Library know.

Get help finding the books you need by using our online catalogue. You could try our etutorials: Find a book on the Catalogue   Find a book on the Shelf   Did you find our etutorials helpful? You can access them online via our website at any time. 

50 Resources for Healthcare: 7. Get books on your reading list – check our catalogue

The library catalogue holds information about all the print resources we have - that’s books and print-based journal titles – as well as ebooks, DVDs and CD-Roms. You can search it to find the books on your reading lists. If we have missed something feel free to send your reading list to us or make a suggestion for us to buy it.  We have lots of etutorials to help you to get to grips with the catalogue and find the items you need at the Health Library: Find a book on the catalogue   Find a book on the shelf   Borrow a book at the counter   Use the self-issue machines   Find a print journal   You can also use the catalogue to renew your books online and request any items that are already on loan to someone else.

Catalogue Login Screen Updated

The login screen to access your library record has been updated. There is now a single set of boxes which can deal with any type of card number. This should make it easier for you to login to renew loans or reserve books, while also freeing things up for us to make further improvements. Catalogue Login Screen

World Osteoporosis Day - related library stock.

World Osteoporosis Day is observed annually on 20 October , and launches a year-long campaign dedicated to raising global awareness of the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease. Organized by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) every year, World Osteoporosis Day involves campaigns by national osteoporosis patient societies from around the world with activities in over 90 countries. Library Catalogue Changes

The screen for the Library catalogue has been updated this week. You can still get all the same functionality to help you to find the items you need but it now has a much simpler search interface and cleaner screen. Catalogue Search Screen You can read more about the changes here .
