Health Literacy Awareness Training sessions: September - November 2025

  Want to improve your communication skills with your patients? Are you aware of the role low literacy or numeracy can have in impacting if the health information you are providing to patients is understood? Want to e xplore practical methods that can be used to help improve health literacy and the patient experience?   The Health Library is offering a range of training sessions around Health Literacy Awareness.   Sessions: To book onto a session:  email debbie.wyatt@uhnm.nhs.uk Tuesday 30 th  September 2025, 10 am – 11 am, via MS Teams Monday 27 th  October 2025, 2 pm – 3 pm, via MS Teams Friday 28 th  November 2025, 12 pm – 1 pm, via MS Teams You will need a microphone and camera (please don't attend on a mobile phone).

Training available - how to get the most out of the resources available to you.

Get expert help from our training team so that you get great quality evidence and make the most of our resources. We have a range of Training opportunities to help you to get to grips with services and resources on offer at the Health Library. Most training is currently being delivered remotely online. Keele University Students Medicine, midwifery and nursing students can book training to help them to develop their information skills and get the best evidence for their assignments and dissertation. NEW! Training webinars for NHS staff - get to grips with the new resources

 Need help adjusting to the changes in NHS resources? Make sure you know where to go for easy access to the best evidence. Try our NEW training webinars for UHNM staff. Sign-up for training on Keele resources

 Write better assignments; make the most of the resources you can access. Sign-up for online webinars covering Keele-subscribed resources. You can register for sessions on: Finding journal articles for your assignments Evaluating your search results Managing your references Referencing with Cite them Right Searching healthcare databases Sessions are being delivered through February and March. Literature Searching webinars for NHS staff

The Health Library training team will be delivering literature searching training via webinars , during December. Introduction to Literature Searching     This is a  1.5   hour  course, aimed at NHS staff who want to conduct a literature search using MEDLINE and other major healthcare databases. These are currently available using the HDAS (Healthcare Advanced Databases) system that can be accessed with your NHS Athens account     You will learn how to:   Clarify a search topic   Choose appropriate sources for searching   Devise search strategies   Search for and retrieve relevant information   Sort and Save your searches     Please note that, due to covid-19 restrictions, this session will be  conducted online  via Microsoft Teams by a one of the Health Library trainers. Training dates cancelled - HDAS changes

We are expecting changes to the NHS Evidence HDAS interface during the end of May. To account for this we have cancelled some courses in May and the beginning of June related to this resource. These are: Literature Searching Healthcare databases (NHS) Finding the Evidence The normal training schedule will resume 11th of June. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
