Find out about how our NHS library members can access Keele University networked resources under the Walk-in Licence .

NHS Athens for Students

The students based here at the Health Library can apply for an NHS trust-based Athens username. This is to support you when you are on placement – you will be able to access the same online resources as your NHS colleagues. These will often be different to the Keele resources that you access. To apply for a trust-based NHS Athens accounts you need to complete the online form . Make sure you use your Keele-based email address so that we can verify you quickly. Select the NHS organisation where you will be on placement. Please provide as much relevant information so that you can be identified and your application verified quickly. Once you have submitted the form you will be sent an email from Athens / Eduserv. You need to action the instructions it contains to complete the registration. BNF App Error and Work-round

We have noticed that some people have had problems using the BNF App, where despite having a workable NHS Athens username / password the app appears to indicate that you are not allowed access. We have found a strange work-round that seems to work. Once you have set up your NHS Athens username go to the NHS HDAS databases and log in. If you are able to login OK, select a database (any will do), then log out. Then repeat the process of logging in and out again. Now go back to your BNF App; it should work OK and let you log in.

Get your library card updated

If you have an NHS library card and have received a card renewal letter from us in July / August, please get in touch with the library to update your library card. Library cards which have expired will be removed from the system shortly. Your library card allows you to: borrow books photocopy items request temporary logins to the Keele network and wifi access the library automatically during evening and weekends
