Improving postgraduate medical education

Aspiring to excellence, the final report of the independent inquiry into modernising medical careers is now available from the modernising medical careers website. Sir John Tooke calls for the creation of a new over-seeing body to standardise training and act as an interface between policy development and implementation. The report highlights eight areas of concern where action is required.

MIT Open Courseware

Harvard- MITOpenCourseware offers free course materials for a wide selection of their subjects incuding health science and technology . Over 1800 courses have been made available should you want to dip into to other topics. Visitng the website can provide you with free downloads of the lecture notes, presentations, reading lists and assignments.

JAMA online

2008 will see a great number of changes to the NHS electronic resources. The first of the changes to be introduced is the national purchase of the American Medical Association journals . This will provide Athens authenticated access to journals such as JAMA, Archives of Neurology and Archives of Ophthlmology. Unlike Proquest titles, there will be no embargo to accessing the articles and provides stable full text access to past issues.
