Health Library News

 Unfortunately there has been a leak in the library over the New Year period. We have had to cordon off a small area and unplug some electrical equipment for safety. This means that there is a slight reduction in the number of NHS networked computers available. It is affecting one bank of computers in the rotunda. The computers in the photocopier room are unaffected. There is one bank of computers in the rotunda still available. Please ask at the counter if you are unsure where to access our NHS networked computers. The problem has been reported and we hope that it will be fixed soon.

From Monday 3rd August some of the NHS PCs in the library will be available on an appointment basis. These are on the NHS network, so you’ll need your NHS log-in to use them. PC sessions will be available Monday – Friday between 9 am and 4 pm. Black and white printing will be available. To book a PC session, email health.library@keele.ac.uk with your preferred time/date, NHS email address and library card number (if you have one). Your booking is not accepted until you receive a confirmation email from the library team. You may book 30-minute slots up to a maximum of 2 hours in any one session. The IT Suite, Keele networked computers, study spaces and book browsing remain unavailable at this time.

The NHS networked computers, which were located in the IT suite, have been relocated to the study desks in the Rotunda. NHS provision now consists of: 3 PCs and the printer in the old photocopy room 8 PCs in the main rotunda You will need your NHS work-based username / password to log in to the PCs.

You can now borrow a laptop from the Health Library: Work in the rotunda Work in the silent study area Take with you to a meeting You will need your library card and a Keele IT login for wifi access; NHS users need to request a temporary login. All laptops need to be returned at least 1 hour before the library closing time.

The network problems we have been experiencing have now been resolved - systems are coming online. Please be patient while we update all the manual records taken during the downtime. Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Please read this notice regarding teaching activity in the IT Suite.

We are expecting significant disruption during 31st May and 1st June as our IT networks and telephone systems are migrated. This may result in the loss of our computer systems and telephone services throughout the Health Library. We ask for your patience during this period and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

UHNS has now installed 5 computers in the Health Library IT suite which operate on the Trust intranet. This should provide more reliable access to the Trust network. Unfortunately a Trust login is required to access these computers, and library staff can no longer log people on. Any student seeking access to Trust policies and procedures should request access or a copy from their placement supervisor. No printers attached to any of the NHS networked computers.

Edit: This problem has now been resolved. Keele are experiencing some problems with one of the servers controlling logins. This has affected all temporary login accounts issued to NHS staff (1 day and 5 day passes). A few student accounts have also been disrupted. The matter has been reported and IT are currently investigating. It is hoped that computer access will be regained later today.
