Coronavirus / Covid-19 resources updated

Need to rest your mind - try some mindfulness colouring

... or maybe just keep the kids occupied for a short time. So, we can't give you access to our mindfulness table right now but here are a couple of colouring exercises which you can have a go at. NHS Million Poster Project - NHS Million have some posters that you can download and colour in. They have been created by volunteer artists. Lots are on the theme of thanking the NHS, so perfect for decorating the wards or sharing in your window. NHS Million are also encouraging you to share your creations via social media. Blue Light Card Character Posters - Blue Light Card have some colouring posters of various emergency service staff. Good for using with younger children and educational too. Hope you enjoy!

COVID-19 Evidence Bulletin

The Health Library is now producing an evidence bulletin for COVID-19 / coronavirus.  You can download all the latest published evidence relating to covid-19 / coronavirus. You'll find information relating to infection control, diagnosis and treatment. Bulletins will be produced regularly as the pandemic continues. You can find the latest bulletins on the Health Library website . For any queries regarding the bulletin please contact the Clinical Effectiveness Librarian .

Clinical, mental health, and nursing e-book collections from EBSCO for NHS staff

Around 5,000 titles have been made available via NHS OpenAthens on the Ebsco platform.  The collections will be available until the end of May.  They include titles from Lippincott Williams & Wilkins,  McGraw-Hill Education, Oxford University Press, Springer Publishing, Wolters Kluwer Health, Taylor and Francis, and Cambridge Scholars Publishing.   Clinical Collection Topic areas include dermatology, gynaecology and obstetrics, internal medicine, medicine (general), nursing, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, pathology, paediatrics, pharmacology and surgery.   Nursing Collection Topic areas include nursing research and theory, pharmacology, nursing management, evidence-based nursing, home care nursing and leadership.  Psychology Collection Topic areas include psychoanalysis, psychotherapy, counselling, social psychology, evolutionary psychology, developmental psychology, and more .

Use Library Search to find eBooks

You can still access our book collection online. Use LibrarySearch to find ebooks, then read them online. When you get your search results use the Filters to focus on the ebook collection. Select: Resource Type = Books Availability = Online Screen-shot showing a list of search results with the filters selected Click the title of the ebook to see the log in options. All ebooks will be available to Keele students. NHS staff will need to check that there is an NHS log in option to use. Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week 20th - 26th April 2020

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition that affects your brain and spinal cord. In MS, the coating that protects your nerves (myelin) is damaged. This causes a range of symptoms like blurred vision and problems with how we move think and feel. Once a person has been diagnosed with MS, it is with them for the rest of their lives; but with the help of treatments and specialists the condition and its symptoms can be managed. More than 130,000 people in the UK have MS. In the UK people are most likely to find out they have MS in their thirties, forties and fifties and MS is also more likely to affect women than men. BMJ Best Practice available for all NHS staff via OpenAthens login

The BMJ Best Practice evidence-based reference tool is available to all NHS staff. You can access up-to-date guidelines and recommendations for a range of conditions and diseases, including a recent topic on coronavirus / covid-19. You can get information on theory, diagnosis, screening, treatment, follow-up and more. Important updates are presented on the home page. Calculators, patient leaflets, images and videos are also available within the tool. An app is available for information on the go. To access BMJ Best Practice you will need to login with your NHS OpenAthens username, then create a BMJ account so that your preferences can be stored. The coronavirus links that we have been collecting are now available on the Health Library website. These links provide information about the coronavirus pandemic, many of which are freely available. Library service changes for the Easter holiday weekend

From Good Friday 10th April to Easter Monday 13th April inclusive, library staff will not be available to contact.
