Patient Voices Collection – gain a different perspective.

Do you listen to your patients? Do you get the complete view? Wondered how patients or other people have coped with a condition or diagnosis? What is the impact of disability on a family? We’ve developed  our Patient Voices  collection to give you a different perspective from a patient’s or their family’s point of view. Read patient stories to learn more. Browse through  the Patient Voices collection  online or in the Library. Topics include: mental health dementia grief cancer stroke eating disorders Covid long term conditions parenthood physical disability learning disability and many more.

New books! Check online for new stock

 You can now check online for the latest print books and ebooks added to the libraries' catalogue Library Search. Just go to the online collection and start browsing. This collection includes new items added to the Health Library (at the CEC, Royal Stoke Hospital) as well as Campus Library and the Health Library at County (Stafford). Health Library members can borrow from any library, simply log in to Library Search and make a request. Or contact the team at the library if you need any help. If you think something is missing from our collection you can make a stock suggestion by completing our online form .

Library Search for NHS Users

   Library Search provides the library catalogue which includes all the books in the collections held at the Health Library (CEC), Campus Library and Health Library at County. NHS staff use Library Search differently from Keele University staff and students. Make sure you make the most of your library membership by learning how to use Library Search to get the information you need. eBooks for NHS staff

  No time to visit the Health Library to collect books? That’s OK! We’ve got a great range of online titles.   We’ve just updated our eBooks web page, listing the collections that you can access and where you can find them:   NHS Knowledge and Library Hub – wide range of ebooks from the NHS core content purchased collections.   Library search – some ebook titles are available to NHS members via our library catalogue.    Oxford Medicine Online – key collection of essential handbooks from the NHS core content collection; also available via the Hub and Library Search.   Clinical Key ebooks – range of specialty texts for UHNM staff only.   Kortext NHS ebook collection – a wide spread of topics are covered by this NHS core content collection, including management, sustainability and wellbeing; also available via the Hub.   Medical Exam Revision collection – whilst most of these books are in print format, some are also available as ebooks...

S is for Study Skills

 Improve your skills to get good marks, produce a good dissertation, complete your research project and write academically. Make the most of our collections to develop your study skills. Check out our special Study Skills collection . Here you’ll find books – both in print and as ebooks – to help you to: Manage your study time Develop your writing skills Make better notes Plan your dissertation Develop critical thinking skills Present your work Use the Search option to look for a particular study skills topic You can access some titles online – check whether the ebook is available for your user group (Keele or NHS) and login with either your Keele login details or your NHS OpenAthens username. You can request a title from campus library and pick it up at the Health Library.

L is for Library Search

  Looking for a book at the Library? We have a healthcare specialist collection at the Health Library.  Search on  Library Search  for items on your topic / specialty Library Search is the main catalogue of all our print book collection. It also offers different collections of eresources depending on which user group you are in. NHS staff library members You can search Library Search for books and ebooks. The collection includes books from the Health Library, Campus Library and the Health Library at County. Library members can borrow items from any of these collections. You just need to place a request (on Library Search) and indicate where you want to pick it up. We’ll make the transfer and let you know when you can come in to collect it. Some of the ebook collections, particularly healthcare related, are also available to NHS staff. Look out for the NHS OpenAthens link in the ebook online access details. B is for Books

 Of course we had to mention the books! We have a healthcare specialist book collection, covering a wide range of health topics and available for a diverse array of healthcare professions. Books are available in print as well as online. You can borrow books for a standard loan period of 2 weeks (for Keele users) or 4 weeks (for NHS users). Popular items are available on a 7 day loan. Some items are reference only. You don’t need to remember to renew your books – they are automatically renewed as long as no one else requests them. Please check your email regularly – we'll let you know if you need to return an item. You can search our book collection via Library Search . Log in to Library Search if you want to request an item – then we’ll let you know when it is available for you to pick up. NHS users have access to extra online collections – you can go to the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub to search the ebook collections .

Using eBooks - get full-text of key titles

If you are away from the University for the Christmas holidays or you don’t want to travel in to visit the library, remember that you can always try our online  ebook  collectio ns.   EBooks  are available online 24/7 .   Access To access  the  full-text  of an  ebook  you will need to log in :   Keele staff and students should  use their Keele computer login details   NHS staff should use  their   NHS  OpenAthens  username / password   Collections: We hold our  ebooks  in  a number of  collections:   Keele University Staff and Students All the  ebooks  accessible to Keele University staff and students  are listed on Library Search .
