NICE Evidence Search ends 31st March 2022

 The excellent search engine NICE Evidence Search is being decommissioned 31st March 2022. You will not be able to use this resource after this date. Reference to NICE Evidence Search has been removed from the Health Library website. Alternative resources you might like to consider are: TRIP NHS Knowledge and Library Hub You can find links to these resources as well as additional help on our NHS Resources page .

Looking for NHS journals? Switch to Browzine

 The way to check for NHS journals is changing! The NHS A-Z list is being withdrawn. 31st March 2022. This list will no longer be available. Switch to using Browzine. Browzine is a third party tool provided by Health Education England. No login is required to browse the list. Access to full-text articles will vary depending on your organisation: select the right list from our journals page . Act now! NHS database searching is changing

 HDAS the Healthcare Databases Advanced Search facility will close 31 st March 2022. After this date, all your saved searches and alerts will be deleted . Export your saved searches or alerts NOW ! When it’s gone, it’s gone. Journals for nurses - RCN collection

 Nurses working for UHNM and North Staffs Combined Healthcare can now access a range of key nursing-specialist journal titles from the RCN. Journals include: Cancer nursing practice Emergency nurse Learning Disability Practice Mental Health Practice Nurse Researcher Nursing Children and Young People Nursing Management Nursing Older People Nursing standard Primary Health Care You can find the titles on our browzine list of journals . Just log in with your NHS OpenAthens username when prompted to access the full-text. Because of the way RCN have configured their website, a few articles may not be accessible but you can request them free of charge.

HDAS is closing - make the switch

** NHS HDAS (healthcare advanced search database) will close 31st March 2022. ** If you use NHS HDAS to complete your literature searching and set alerts then you need to act now! If you use NHS HDAS to search Cinahl, Medline, Amed, Embase or any NHS bibliographic database, then you need to act now! Which database should you search? Which platform hosts them? W is for wellbeing

Make sure you look after yourselves. The library can play a part. Evidence supports the value of reading to improve health and wellbeing, so we have introduced a collection of books based on the Reading Agency’s Reading Well and Mood-boosting books. Take a look at our Reading Well collection . You can browse the collection online or thumb through books in the library. Books are available on standard loan. This collection is gathered together and shelved by the main doors. You’ll find texts on self help, inspirational stories or just something for a bit of a laugh.

V is for visit us

Why not come along and visit us? We are located on the ground floor, in the Clinical Education Centre, at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. Here are some instructions on how to get here, along with a Google Street map view. We’re in the really distinctive round building you can see from the A34. The library is usually a quiet place to study or catch up on some paperwork. You can use the silent study room if you need. We also have NHS and Keele networked computers, as well as provision for photocopying, scanning and printing. Royal Marsden Manual Online available to all NHS staff

 The Royal Marsden Manual online is now available to all NHS staff, courtesy of Health Education England.  The Royal Marsden Manual includes procedures and guidance; all evidence-based, including references. T is for Training

Get expert help from our training team so that you get great quality evidence and make the most of our resources. We have a range of Training opportunities to help you to get to grips with services and resources on offer at the Health Library. Most training is currently being delivered remotely online. Keele University Students Medicine, midwifery and nursing students can book training to help them to develop their information skills and get the best evidence for their assignments and dissertation. Scheduled courses are delivered as part of the Keele “In a nutshell…” series. Sign-up for a scheduled course or arrange a 1-to-1 session with our training team.  Improve your skills to get good marks, produce a good dissertation, complete your research project and write academically. Make the most of our collections to develop your study skills. Check out our special Study Skills collection . Here you’ll find books – both in print and as ebooks – to help you to: Manage your study time Develop your writing skills Make better notes Plan your dissertation Develop critical thinking skills Present your work Use the Search option to look for a particular study skills topic You can access some titles online – check whether the ebook is available for your user group (Keele or NHS) and login with either your Keele login details or your NHS OpenAthens username. You can request a title from campus library and pick it up at the Health Library.
