Disruption to Keele IT Services Saturday 16th July 2016

The following statement has been issued by Keele IT:

*****
Once a year IT Services test our ability to recover from a major disaster by switching off the data centres and checking that the systems can be recovered.

Our Disaster Recovery event will be taking place from 08:00 until approximately 18:30 on Saturday 16th July 2016.

What does this mean for staff and students?

On Saturday 16th July, access to IT systems, whether on or off campus will be affected. Access to SCIMS, KLE, eVision will be affected for part or all of the day.

If you are on campus then telephones, wifi and network connections in offices, IT Suite or Labs will be affected for part or all of the day.

If you access services from RSUH campus including the internet, library system and Eduroam then there will be disruption to these services between 8.00 am and 2.00 pm on Saturday.

Access to Keele Web Pages, Internet, Google Mail and Apps may suffer some minor disruption but should be available all day.

How will IT services communicate during the day?

Regular updates will be put on our Twitter Account @KeeleUni_IT  throughout the day.

IT Connect in the Library Building will be open between 09:00 - 12.00 and 14:00 - 17:00.

Automatic Renewal of Library Items

The new Library Management System will now automatically renew your loaned items.

How will I know?
You won’t be automatically informed that your items have been renewed. However you can log in to your account to check. You will also be sent a monthly status report (via email) confirming the status of your library account and loans.

If an item has not been renewed then you will be informed via email.

What could stop a renewal?
Your borrowed item may not be renewed if…

  • It has been requested by another user
  • Your account is more than £10 in deficit
  • Your library membership is due to expire.

There are a small number of membership types who are not eligible for automatic renewals.
