Help the NHS understand how you access evidence - complete the survey

NHS staff - Your help is required to build understanding of needs for access to evidence in the NHS. The national team for Knowledge and Library Services are researching how NHS staff currently access and use evidence. We have completed interviews with people from all parts of the team and in all settings across the NHS in England. The next phase of the research will seek to validate the needs that have been identified as a result. We want to understand the picture for clinical and non-clinical staff, students and apprentices, those in regular contact with their Knowledge and Library Service and those who are not. You can read about previous user research that informed the creation of the Knowledge and Library Hub and be assured that your input can make the difference. If you can help, please complete this brief survey The survey will close 12 April 2026

NHS eJournals – updates pending

There have been a number of journal titles cancelled this year for our NHS users. Due to some problems we have encountered with the new Ovid software used to produce the NHS journals A-Z list and the article links in HDAS, the application of the changes may take some time. Apologies for the delay. If you encounter any problems getting in access to articles, please contact staff at the Health Library.

NICE HDAS and NHS A-Z Journals Problems

We have recently had an update to the software that produces the links for our journals and articles presented within NICE HDAS and NHS A-Z Journals. Unfortunately there appear to be a number of problems associated with the implementation that you should be aware of: 1. Some full-text links are repeating - so you may get 2-5 links that are all the same, this is occurring with a number of providers, although it is not consistent. This has been reported. 2. The links for print content from the Health Library print journals don’t seem to be coming through on HDAS, although the journal title are on the A-Z. So you may need to check the A-Z for print content. This has been reported. 3. Links from Ebsco Medline with full-text are working intermittently and I don't think the content is correct ie we seem to be getting links for journal titles which are not included as full-text within medline. This has been reported. Do let me know if you come across anything looking funny...

UHNM email changes – the impact on access to online resources

University Hospitals of North Midlands have changed their email address structure. Thus our UHNM users will find that their uhns email addresses have now become uhnm email addresses. As I understand it emails with your old address will still be received at your new address but presumable at some point in the future this will be changed. Unfortunately there is no way for us to globally update users email addresses on our eresource-related systems. How might this impact on your access to online resources? NHS Athens Your NHS Athens account will be listed with the email address that you registered with. You need to update this to your new uhnm email address. Log on to your account and click the change email address option on the left-hand-side. Why? Athens will email you to remind you to renew your username prior to it expiring. If Athens does not have your active address you may miss the reminder and your username could expire, so preventing you from accessing r...
