Inter-Library Loan Service constraints for journal article requests

There will be disruption to the Inter-Library Loan Service (ILL) during the current restrictions. Although we are trying to supply an ILL service some of our source libraries are not available and this means it is taking longer to source items and fulfil requests.  To help us please do not submit more than 5 requests, and do not submit further requests until your previous requests have been fulfilled or resolved. Please submit any requests for  journal articles via the online form and we will deal with them if possible. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Here is a quick run-down of how you can access the NHS-subscribed online resources you need: Log In You will need your NHS OpenAthens username and password to get access to subscribed resources. Please see our NHS OpenAthens page for information about how to register and maintain your account. Access Keele Online Resources

Here is a quick run-down of how you can access the Keele-subscribed online resources you need: Log In You will need your Keele computer username and password to get access to subscribed resources. If you are having problems with your account please contact the Keele IT department . Library Search You can use Library Search to find ebooks, ejournals and to run simple searches to find articles. Make sure that you log in to Library Search with your Keele computer username and password. This will help you to get to the full-text more easily. Many of our popular print books are also available as ebooks. Follow these simple steps to read an ebook . Databases For nursing and midwifery students Nursing and midwifery students will find the most relevant databases for their subject on their subject page . Use these specialist databases to find articles. Make sure you use the links on this page as most of the time the link will take you straight to the login page

Staying in Touch with the Health Library during lockdown

The Health Library is currently closed due to the coronavirus / covid-19 restrictions. Whilst the Library building will not be available we are trying to run as many services as we can remotely during the lockdown. Health Library closing from 5:00 pm today 23 March until further notice

The Health Library will close from 5:00 pm today 23 March until further notice due to coronavirus / covid-19 restrictions. Please check our home page for details of the availability of individual services - we will be trying to run some of these remotely. Remember that online resources will be available. Please contact the Health Library with any queries.

Borrowing, Renewals, Requests and Returns (Covid-19 impact)

Borrowing The library service is currently open if you wish to borrow items. Please use the self-service machines. Please check opening times as these may change. Renewals Items currently on loan will be renewed automatically.  Requests Requests are being suspended. Returns You can return items by post or at the library. Please use the self-service machines if possible. Please check opening times as these may change.

Changes to Health Library opening hours due to restrictions related to coronavirus covid-19

In the light of recent developments due to Covid-19, the Health Library will be reducing its opening hours in order to maintain a sustainable service. From Wednesday 18th March until further notice opening hours will be as follows: Monday - Friday       8:30 am - 5:00 pm Saturday - Sunday   10:00 am - 5:00 pm All services are expected to operate as normally as possible within these restrictions. New Training Dates for Health Library Courses – April to June 2020

We’ve released new training dates for our training programme.  We have a range of training opportunities available at the Health Library this Spring. We now have short bite-sized courses as well as our regular programme of comprehensive courses. There are 2 programmes - one for  Keele students and staff  and one for  NHS-based staff . Develop your skills and learn more about our resources, so that you can find the evidence to support decision-making and patient care. NHS Journal Changes for 2020

There have been a number of changes to the individual journal subscriptions this year for NHS staff. New Titles The Health Library has subscribed to a new collection this year, called the Ovid High Impact collection. Students on Electives or placement (Medicine, Nursing or Midwifery) - no change to library loan rules

If you are embarking on an elective or placement during March or in April / May: You are welcome to continue to loan items from the library, but please be aware that normal loan periods will still apply. Items may be requested by another user and thus need to be returned. Late return of requested items will still incur fines. Automatic renewals will run as normal, but if you wish to try to avoid having an item potentially due for return at a time when you really cannot come in, you can attempt to renew your books early via your account on Library Search.
