  Make sure you take care of yourself this winter. Here are a few ways the Health Library can help. Reading Well Collection Curl up with a book and immerse yourself in a story. We have a collection of mood-boosting fiction books to help you to unwind. There are also poetry collections to inspire and amuse you. Or try one of our self-help books to support your own mental health. Borrow these from our reading well collection. You can browse the collection in the library or take a look at the titles available via Library Search . Wellbeing Area You can also take a moment of mindfulness in our wellbeing area. There are jigsaws and colouring books to try or just take a little you-time in a comfy chair.

Uplifting resources for the NHS from the NHS

As we head into winter with darker days, poor weather and winter pressures, make sure you take a moment to look after yourselves. Health Education England and the Reading Agency have crowd-sourced a list of uplifting resources for NHS staff. The full suite, which includes books and digital resources, were recommended by NHS people for NHS people. Ideal for boosting your mood. Why not try something different to help with your wellbeing?  This Libraries Week do something different and take a look at our Reading Well collection. We’re not just here for the must-have text book or latest clinical update. We’ve got a range of titles including self-help books, poetry and popular fiction. Access the Collection You can browse through the collection online via the Library Search catalogue . See something you like? Just request it and you can pick it up later. Or just pop along to the Health Library and browse the shelves – this collection is to the right as you enter through the glass doors. What books are available? Your Health Collection – a selection of books and digital support resources for NHS staff

  NHS Knowledge and Library Services are working in partnership with T he Reading Agency to provide a new collectio n of 10 books and 30 online resources to NHS staff via their library . F or the first time, the collection will also be given to 120 prison libraries in England .     T he theme of the collection focuses on supporting better general health, including topics such as ag e ing well, women’s health and menopause, men’s health, life as a trans person and better mental wellbeing.      Funded by Health Education England, the collection has been chosen with the various communities involved for individuals to use themselves or to help them understand someone else’s health issues.     A copy of each of the 10 books will be sent to over 300 NHS and prison libraries across England . Take a look at our Reading Well collection during Virtual Wellbeing Week

  Virtual wellbeing week is being run 25th April to 1st May . It is aimed at healthcare staff and encourages you to take a moment to recognise, reflect and reconnect. You can join a range of events organised by Together We're Better: Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent . Reading can support health and wellbeing and help develop empathy. We'd encourage you to take a look at our Reading Well book collection - this is especially created with mood enhancing and self-help books. You can visit the library to view the collection or browse online . Why not take some time out for yourself and read something different? #SSOTStaffWellbeing

W is for wellbeing

Make sure you look after yourselves. The library can play a part. Evidence supports the value of reading to improve health and wellbeing, so we have introduced a collection of books based on the Reading Agency’s Reading Well and Mood-boosting books. Take a look at our Reading Well collection . You can browse the collection online or thumb through books in the library. Books are available on standard loan. This collection is gathered together and shelved by the main doors. You’ll find texts on self help, inspirational stories or just something for a bit of a laugh.

Come and see the new Reading Well Collection in the Health Library in the CEC at Royal Stoke.   Or browse the collection online and see the extra books we have chosen for our Reading Well collection. We have the ten Uplifting books recommended by a panel of NHS staff -  Uplifting resources: for the NHS, from the NHS  as well as others on the Reading Agency’s Reading Well lists. The NHS Uplifting Collection has fiction, non-fiction, and poetry books, supported by uplifting digital resources, including poems, websites, videos and apps.
