This information affects NHS, SCONUL and Alumni members. If you have a library card, you will have set up a password for an online library account, which you access through the library catalogue Library Search . This is used to login to your account to view your book loans, renew items and place requests on items.  The system which manages the login details is changing to increase security. Please be aware if you have a password that is fewer than 8 characters you will find that from January 2020 that you will not be able to log in to Library Search. To avoid this - in advance please reset your Library Search password to meet the security criteria. If you have not reset your password before January 2020, you will need to contact the library to request a temporary password reset so that you can access you account and set your own password. If you are embarking on an elective or placement during November / December / January: You are welcome to continue to loan items from the library, but please be aware that normal loan periods will still apply. Items may be requested by another user and recalled. Late return of requested items will still incur fines. Automatic renewals will run as normal, but if you wish to try to avoid having an item potentially due for return at a time when you really cannot come in, you can attempt to renew your books early via your account on Library Search.

Online learning is sometimes also referred to as elearning, technology-enhanced learning, technology-enabled learning or learning online. We would like to know more about what online learning opportunities you need from the Health Library and how we can best deliver them. Alcohol awareness week is coordinated by the Alcohol Change UK. Over 1,700 public health teams, workplaces, GP surgeries, pharmacies, hospitals, charities and other community groups across the country took part in and organised events for the 2018 campaign. This year's theme is “Alcohol and me” and is hoped to offer a chance for the UK to get thinking about drinking - it’s a week of raising awareness and campaigning for change. We're more than just books - we provide you with a range of specialist services to support your work, research and studies. Here's some stats for you: Last quarter, July to September 2019, we: completed 32 literature searches supported 169 new Athens accounts supplied 50 inter-library loan requests delivered 124 training sessions Poster showing the stats for last quarter Make sure you're making the most of your membership of the library and ask about how we can support you.

Need a quick refresher or want a short introduction to the basics? Try our new In a Nutshell training sessions. In only 30 minutes you can learn: How to use Library Search to find books quickly How to find articles for your assignments How to use RefWorks to manage your references Sessions are available at the Health Library on Mondays or Tuesdays 3:30 - 4:00pm. The death of a baby is not a rare event. It can happen to anyone. Every year, thousands of people in the UK are affected by the death of a baby or experience pregnancy loss. The Baby Loss Awareness Week is an opportunity for parents, their families and friends to acknowledge and remember their precious babies who have died. It is led by Sands (Stillborn and Neonatal death charity) in collaboration with 70 charities in the UK. Throughout the week bereaved parents, their families and friends, unite with each other and others across the world to commemorate the lives of babies who died during pregnancy, at or soon after birth and in infancy. Baby Loss Awareness Week is also a platform to call for tangible improvements in research, care and policy around bereavement support and highlights bereavement support and services available for anyone affected by the death of a baby at any stage.
