Can’t access the full-text? Do you need to request an Inter-Library Loan?

If you can’t access the full-text of an article then you may need to apply for an Inter-Library Loan. We will try to get you a copy of the article from another library.

But… first things first – have you checked our available collections?

  • Check Library Search for the print version of the journal and article – is it already sitting on our shelves?
  • NHS staff should check the NHS A-Z Journals List. You’ll need to log on with your Athens username. You can then check for the journal title of the article to see if it is included in our online subscription.
  • Check Library Search to see if the article is available via Keele resources. Keele users will be able to access Keele resources either via the Keele network or by logging on with their Keele username / password. NHS library members can access Keele networked resources by requesting a temporary Keele login for walk-in access.

If you still can’t find the full-text, then double-check on Google Scholar to see if a full-text version comes up via a search for the article title.

Once you’ve completed your checks you can make an application for an Inter-Library Loan. You’ll need to complete a form providing all the details of the article. You can use a paper form available from the Health Library counter or complete our online form. We will try to source a copy of the article from another library, where we have arrangements.

Please note that there is a small charge for this service.
