Reminder - Health Library Opening Hours over Easter

The Opening Hours for the Health Library will be reduced over the Easter holiday as follows: Good Friday April 3rd         9 am - 5 pm Saturday April 4th               9 am - 5 pm Easter Sunday April 5th      **CLOSED** Easter Monday April 6th     9 am - 5 pm Online resources will be available 24/7 and you can renew your books online .

NHS eJournal Errors

We are currently experiencing a few errors with some of our NHS-subscribed ejournals. Journals from the Royal College of Psychiatrists – BJPsych Advances and British Journal of Psychiatry . These titles should be available to users registered with a North Staffs Combined Healthcare Athens username. They are currently not appearing on our A-Z journals list but you should be able to access full-text directly on the RCofPsych website . British Journal of General Practice – we are experiencing problems with our access. Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research – we have current year online access to this title via Springer. There is currently a problem with our access. This is available in print at the Health Library . Clinical Pharmacist and Pharmaceutical Journal – there is currently a problem with our subscription to these titles. These titles are accessible using a UHNS-based email account. ACT NOW! Saved Searches will be Lost – NHS Users

This is a reminder... From the 1 st of April the provision of the Medline and PsychInfo databases, as part of the NHS Core Content, will be delivered via ProQuest and not Ovid. Changes will be made to the NHS HDAS interface to run searches on these 2 databases via ProQuest instead of Ovid. As a consequence of these changes, any searches (and associated alerts) saved within HDAS by users, which use these databases or search across databases, will be lost. You are advised to export your search information in order to retain it. You can then re-create the search, and alert, when the new interface is implemented. App of the Month – Ebsco Databases

The Ebsco databases include the main healthcare databases Cinahl, Medline and PsychInfo.  Keele students can download the Ebsco databases app so that you can search on the go. To get instructions and links relevant for the app: Go to your subject page on   the Health Library website , eg Nursing Databases, Midwifery Databases or Medical Databases Click the link for the Ebsco database you usually use eg Medline or Cinahl (note that it doesn’t matter which and the app allows you to search multiple databases) Login using the Shibboleth login option if prompted, entering your Keele University computer username and password when needed. Go to the bottom of the page and click the link “iphone and android apps” This asks you to enter your email address. Enter your Keele email address and instructions will be sent to you. Adding Health Library eTutorials to the KLE

The Health Library etutorials aim to help students to get to grips with all our resources and develop their information skills, so learning to find good quality information efficiently. We have 2 etutorial packages: Getting Started - to help students to find and use our most popular resources such as books, ebooks, journals, ejournals and databases. Information Skills - to help students to develop their information skills and learn the techniques to find information effectively. The etutorials are short, bite-sized online tutorials; they include presentations, photo-tours, step-by-step video demonstrations, audio and interactive quizzes. Adding an eTutorial to a KLE Module Academic staff might want to consider where students might need more support in their studies to help them to find the right information they need. eTutorials can be added to relevant sections of the KLE by adding the weblink or URL of either the individual etutorial or etutorial section. ...
