NHS resources are changing from the 30th June 2025

A range of our resources for NHS customers are purchased by NHS England as a national Core Content offering. At the end of June 2025, the content of the core collection is changing.

You may find some resources are no longer available to you. Specifically affected are the Oxford Handbooks e-books and access to a range of ProQuest databases.

 Oxford Handbooks:

Some Oxford Handbooks are being replaced by locally purchased e-book access. We also have a range of Oxford Handbooks available in print from the health libraries.

To find our local resources - in the NHS Knowledge and Libraries Hub search for Oxford Handbook. Then select the limiter 'Library Catalogue only'. Limiters are located on the left hand side of the screen. Both local e-books and print books will then show in the results.

The Knowledge and Library Hub can be accessed via this link NHS Knowledge and Libraries Hub or by clicking on the Knowledge and Libraries Hub icon on the desktop on a UHNM computer.

Note: The Knowledge and Library Hub is having a new interface in the summer 2025. So the screen may possibly look like the below. In which case to get to the ‘Library Catalogue only’ limiter – click on ‘All filters’ at the top, and then in the pop-up pane select the ‘Library Catalogue only’ filter and click apply.

Further information about the new interface will be released later.

ProQuest databases:

Unfortunately we cannot replace most of the NHS accessible ProQuest databases - but a range of other databases will still be available and discoverable via the NHS Knowledge and Libraries Hub.

ProQuest databases which will no longer be accessible via the NHS Knowledge and Libraries Hub from 30th June 2025:

  • AMED
  • BNI
  • PsycINFO

Other databases in the NHS Core Content which will still be accessible via the Hub NHS Knowledge and Libraries Hub:

  • CINAHL (via EBSCO)
  • EMBASE (via Ovid - Wolters Kluwer)
  • EMCARE (via Ovid - Wolters Kluwer)
  • HMIC (via Ovid - Wolters Kluwer)
  • Medline (via EBSCO)
  • Social Policy and Practice (via Ovid - Wolters Kluwer)
  • TRIP Pro (via TRIP)

PsycINFO – we are investigating the possibility of locally purchasing PsycINFO for our North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust customers, but the final outcome is yet to be determined.
