Your NHS Knowledge and Library Hub is here

 Do you need trusted, good quality, healthcare information quickly?

The NHS Knowledge and Library Hub is a new resource for all NHS members of staff. You can easily search across a wealth of NHS-subscribed resources, including:

  • journals, ebooks and databases
  • clinical decision support resources such as NICE Guidelines and BMJ Best Practice
  • resources purchased nationally and locally
  • one-click links to full-text, request a copy or contact your library

Full access is free to all NHS staff using your NHS OpenAthens account.

Using the Knowledge and Library Hub

You will find a link to the Knowledge and Library Hub on our NHS resources page or go straight there. Make sure you have logged in to OpenAthens you ensure that you search all the resources available to your organization.

Here is an overview of the Hub interface:


  1. Select whether you want to search for keywords, a title or an author.
  2. Enter your search terms – you may be prompted with suggestions.
  3. Click the Search options to set your search parameters such as applying similar words, full-text only, publication date range and more.
  4. You can also elect to go to the individual databases and other resources to run your search there.
  5. You can view all your subscribed journal titles from the journals A-Z list.
  6. Click the Your Health Library link to go to the library website.
  7. Click sign-in to go to your Hub folder where you can save articles and searches
  8. You can send a query to the Health Library by clicking Ask-a-Librarian.
  9. You’ll find more library services available on the footer.

New look: NHS Knowledge and Library Hub

The NHS Knowledge and Library Hub now has a new look. It is still the place to go to find information, articles, e-books and journals from a range of healthcare specific resources for our NHS customers; and also to find out about print books available at both of our Health Libraries. If you are on a Trust computer the desktop link to the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub will now take you to the new interface. Below is a guide to the new interface. Search page: 1. Log in using your NHS OpenAthens username / password. 2. Enter your search keywords into the search box. You can search for a topic, a journal article, a book or a journal title. Suggested text is presented for popular search terms. You can select these or ignore them and use your own keywords. 3. Advanced search options are available. You can combine search terms here. 4.
