Breast Cancer Awareness - webinar recordings available

 If you missed the Breast Cancer Awareness webinars run by Elsevier earlier this month then you can catch-up with the recordings: Breast Cancer Awareness with CoppaFeel - learn more about CoppaFeel, a UK-based charity aiming to raise awareness of breast cancer, particularly with younger people. Find out how to check your own breasts as well as learn more about the educational resources they have to support patients. This webinar lasts about 40minutes. 5 Reasons why you should be talking about breast cancer - find out more about the latest evidence available about breast cancer, including risk factors, diagnosis and treatment. This recording lasts about 40 minutes. Both presentations also briefly mention the impact of the covid-19 pandemic on breast cancer services.  If you work as a healthcare or nursing assistant then the Health Library can support your career development and educational activities. Here is how we can help: Join the Library At UHNM you have access to 2 libraries: Health Library for North Staffordshire - based in the Clinical Education Centre (CEC) on the Royal Stoke site. Health Library at County - based in the post-graduate medical centre on the County Hospital (Stafford) site. Your library membership covers both sites and you can use whichever library is most convenient for you. You will need to complete a membership form to join -  this is available from our website . Your membership allows you to borrow from our book collections as well as access a range of other services. Register for NHS OpenAthens Username An NHS OpenAthens username will give you access to the NHS online resources that we subscribe to for UHNM. World Menopause Day - 18th October 2020

  The menopause is a natural part of ageing that usually occurs between 45 and 55 years of age as a woman's oestrogen levels decline. Studies have shown that menopause symptoms can have a significant impact on attendance and performance in the workplace. As our populations are living longer, working longer and with so many women working within the NHS it is important to support staff during this time to stay well and thrive in their workplace. World Menopause Day is a worldwide awareness call for women who face health issues when approaching, during and beyond the menopause. The International Menopause Society’s World Menopause Day Awareness Campaign highlights the opportunity of using the menopausal period to assess female-specific risk factors and preventing the development of cardiovascular disease. Breast Cancer Awareness Month: 12th to 16th October - activities and support from Elsevier / Clinical key

Elsevier / Clinical Key are offering activities during the week 12th to 16th October to help increase awareness of breast cancer and help you to learn about the resources you can access from Clinical Key. You can take a quiz or sign-up for a webinar. Tuesday 13th - Take a quiz and win a book!. Learn more about how Clinical Key can help you to find information about breast cancer. Wednesday 14th - Sign-up for a webinar "5 Reasons why you should be talking about breast cancer" Friday 16th - Sign-up for a webinar "Breast cancer awareness with CoppaFeel!" Clinical Key is a clinical search engine which includes full-text access to a wide range of journals and ebooks. All UHNM staff can access Clinical Key via their NHS OpenAthens username. Laptop Loans available at the Health Library

  You can borrow a Keele networked laptop from the Health Library. Please come to counter with your library card and one can be issued to you. You will need to wipe down the equipment before and after you have used it. If you are an NHS member you will also need to request a temporary Keele login in order to log on to the laptop.    Laptop loans are available for 1 day only. Please return the laptop to the counter at least 15 minutes before the library closes.
