National Obesity Awareness Week - 13th - 20th January 2020

In recent years the topic of obesity has become a major talking point within society and is one of the major public health problems for the UK.
Obesity is usually defined as having a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or above. A BMI between 25 and 30 is classified as 'overweight'. A report published in 2019 stated that 29% of adults were classified as obese which was an increase on 2016’s 26%. The report also stated that 20% of year 6 children were classified as obese; with the prevalence over twice as high in the most deprived areas than the least deprived areas.
