Academic Book Week 23rd to 28th April 2018 #AcBookWeek

It is Academic Book Week this week – “a celebration of the diversity, innovation and influence of academic books”. So we thought we would highlight a few of the titles written by our healthcare-based academics here at Keele University.

You’ll find a taste of some books authored by members of staff on display by the Library entrance.

The Academic Book Week project is running a competition to find the top Books by Women that Changed the World. There is a selected list of 20 titles and you can vote for your favourite and most influential title.

NHS resources are changing from the 30th June 2025

  A range of our resources for NHS customers are purchased by NHS England as a national Core Content offering. At the end of June 2025, the content of the core collection is changing.  You may find some resources are no longer available to you. Specifically affected are the Oxford Handbooks e-books and access to a range of ProQuest databases.   Oxford Handbooks: Some Oxford Handbooks are being replaced by locally purchased e-book access. We also have a range of Oxford Handbooks available in print from the health libraries. To find our local resources - in the NHS Knowledge and Libraries Hub search for Oxford Handbook. Then select the limiter 'Library Catalogue only'. Limiters are located on the left hand side of the screen. Both local e-books and print books will then show in the results. Protect your searches, alerts and articles/references ahead of change to NHS Knowledge and Library Hub.

  In early July the interface for the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub will have a new look and functionality; using EBSCO’s new user interface. Ahead of the change we have been alerted that if users have created search alerts saved searches in customer folders saved bibliographic details of items they need to take steps to help their information carry over to the new system. Take these steps now to be ready for the change. It is advisable to do this before 1 st July.   1)    Search Alerts Search alerts will not carryover to the new system. Instead – users are advised to find their alert and save it as a saved search instead. Once the new interface is live, the search can be re-run and users should be able to set up a new alert. How do I save my search alert as a saved search instead? Go to the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub and sign in with your NHS OpenAthens account. Nursing final year placements - loaning items

If the next few weeks you are embarking on your final placement before graduating: You are welcome to continue to loan items from the library, but please be aware that normal loan periods will still apply. Items may be requested by another user and recalled. Late return of requested items will still incur fines. Automatic renewals will run as normal, but if you wish to try to avoid having an item potentially due for return at a time when you really cannot come in, you can attempt to renew your books early via you account on Library Search. All items must be returned and any outstanding fines paid before you graduate.
