Dry January - 2017

Dry January is Alcohol Concern's flagship campaign. The campaign is a chance to ditch the hangover, reduce the waistline, and save money by giving up alcohol for 31 days.  Instead of talking about what fun (or not) you might have drinking, this sparks off lots of different conversations about the benefits of having a break from drinking. These are the sort of conversations that Alcohol Concern wants to have with people. In January 2014 according to Alcohol Concern, over 17,000 Britons stopped drinking for that month. While there is controversy as to the efficacy and benefits of the practice, a 2014 survey by the University of Sussex found that six months following January 2014, out of 900 surveyed participants in the custom, 72% had "kept harmful drinking episodes down" and 4% were still not drinking.
