Unmask Misinformation

Found some health information and not sure if it’s true? Work out if you can trust it by using the Misinformation Unmasked strategy . Un – Unsure Listen to your senses! If something about a post or article makes you feel unsure, it might be misinformation. M – Manipulated Blurred background? Weird wording? Poor lighting. Videos, articles and images … they can all be manipulated to create misinformation. A – Agenda Health info should put the inform in information. But misinformation usually has a secret agenda. S – Sidekick When checking for misinformation, two heads are better than one. Check with a friend or ask library staff if you see something you’re not sure is right. NHS eJournal Changes for 2017

We have had a few changes this year regarding our NHS journal subscriptions as detailed below: Main packages: Ovid Journals – 7 subscriptions have been terminated, while 46 have been renewed. Oxford Journals – the subscription to the Oxford Medical Collection has been terminated, however we have retained access to 10 of the most used titles. Clinical Key – this subscription has been retained for UHNM staff, and includes access to over 600 journal titles Individual Titles: Nine (9) individual titles have been terminated, while 34 have been renewed. Databases: Databases allow you to search bibliographic information as well as provide access to some full-text articles. The main databases that NHS staff can access include the following: Ebsco Medline Complete AMED BNI Cinahl Embase Healthcare Business Elite HMIC Medline Proquest Hospital Collection Proquest PsyArticles PsychInfo There has been a delay in renewing some titles this year. Changes to Laptop Loans at the Health Library

Members of the Health Library can borrow a laptop to continue working within the CEC or at home. We have recently updated the laptop loan service. Laptops Loans You can borrow a Keele laptop or NHS laptop. Each type of laptop is set up specific to the organisation with differences in wifi and networked resources. Any member can borrow either laptop, just make sure that you already have the required login to access it. Laptop loans are available for 1 day or 7 days . To borrow a laptop go to the library counter with your library card (your Keele card or NHS membership card) and ask for the type of laptop you want to borrow. The laptop will then be issued onto your card. Return laptop with charger Your laptop should be returned to the counter before closing on the due date. You must always return the charger with your laptop. Laptops without a charger will not be accepted and you may be fined . Reissue We do not automatically renew laptops.
