  Did you know 53.4% of people in Stoke on Trent struggle to understand health information? That number rises to 72.3% of people who struggle to understand health information when it includes numbers. Health Information Week 2023 is here to help, running from 3 rd to 9 th July. “Health Information Week is a national, multi-sector campaign promoting high-quality information for patients and the public. High quality health information can have a huge impact on people’s ability to stay healthy and manage illnesses effectively, giving them a better quality of life.” We’re going to be sharing lots of different resources with you, so that you can develop the right skills and provide great quality patient information to your patients.   Learning Disability Week is organised by the mental health charity Mencap and every year they use this week to educate and campaign to end discrimination, smash stigma and raise awareness about learning disabilities.   This year, the focus is on “Living life with a learning disability” and celebrating the amazing things that people with a learning disability can achieve whilst also highlighting the stigma and misconceptions that many still face every day.   RELATED LIBRARY RESOURCES     The Health Libraries, both at the Royal Stoke and County Hospitals, offer numerous resources related to learning disabilities.  Join one of the drop-in sessions running in June to learn more about KnowledgeShare and how you can sign-up for personalised evidence updates. These sessions will be run on MS Teams by our NHS Outreach Librarian, Diana. They are intended for NHS staff working at North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare.  The Health Library counter service will be closed on Friday 9th June, between 10am and 1:30pm . This is for staff training. No library staff will be available during this time. Library users can use the self-service machines to issue and return books.  Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

  This week, 15 th to 21 st May, is Learning at Work Week. Did you know the Health Library is here to support staff as well as students at Keele University, and all the NHS staff working at UHNM, North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare and the GP practice staff and Integrated Care Board staff in Staffordshire?   We know that getting to the full-text of an article can sometimes throw up unexpected errors.
