HIV / AIDS Awareness Month - December 2025

  HIV/AIDS Awareness Month takes place each December. According to the charity National AIDS Trust there are more than 105,000 people already living in the UK with HIV. This campaign helps to raise awareness of the virus and fights to reduce the stigma surrounding it.   RELATED LIBRARY RESOURCES     The Health Libraries, both at the Royal Stoke and County Hospitals, offer resources related to this topic. Christmas opening hours at the Health Library 2025

 The Health Library will have reduced opening hours over the Christmas holidays. Wednesday 24th December - Open 9am-4pm Thursday 25th- Sunday 28th December -  Closed Monday 29th- Wednesday 31st December - Open 9am-4pm Thursday 1st January -  Closed Friday 2nd January - Open 9am-4pm Normal opening times resume Saturday 3rd January. Please check our website for current opening hours . Online resources are available via the Health Library website .

Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month - November 2025

  November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and this November the charity Pancreatic Cancer Action has launched their #DeadlyKiller campaign.  According to the charity, only 10-20% of patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer are diagnosed in time to receive potentially life-saving treatment.  As such, they aim to raise awareness of the symptoms to assist with early diagnosis.   RELATED LIBRARY RESOURCES     The Health Libraries, both at the Royal Stoke and County Hospitals, offer resources related to this topic. Ovid Medline training for NHS Researchers

Thinking of writing your own research paper but unsure where to begin? This one-hour course will help you develop a robust search strategy which can be transferred into other databases for maximum paper retrieval. Run by UHNM and Keele Librarians, this course will help you build the ‘Literature review’ section of your paper using Ovid Medline. By the end of this workshop, you should be able to: Develop and run your own research question Screen the title and abstract of relevant papers Know how to obtain the full text Save your search and journal articles Download your search results in a file (ready for uploading in screening or reference software) Set up an alert for new research recently added.
