Changes to Laptop Loans at the Health Library

Members of the Health Library can borrow a laptop to continue working within the CEC or at home. We have recently updated the laptop loan service.

Laptops Loans

You can borrow a Keele laptop or NHS laptop. Each type of laptop is set up specific to the organisation with differences in wifi and networked resources. Any member can borrow either laptop, just make sure that you already have the required login to access it.

Laptop loans are available for 1 day or 7 days.

To borrow a laptop go to the library counter with your library card (your Keele card or NHS membership card) and ask for the type of laptop you want to borrow. The laptop will then be issued onto your card.

Return laptop with charger

Your laptop should be returned to the counter before closing on the due date. You must always return the charger with your laptop. Laptops without a charger will not be accepted and you may be fined.

Reissue

We do not automatically renew laptops. This is so that other users have an opportunity to borrow them. However, you can request that a laptop you have borrowed is reissued to you. You can only do this if there are sufficient laptops within the library to be loaned by other people.

To request a reissue:

  • Reissue in person - Bring your laptop and charger, with your library card, to the counter and request that it is reissued to you once it is returned.

OR

  • Reissue by phone - Telephone the Health Library (01782 679500) to request that your laptop is reissued to you.

Always be prepared to return your laptop by the due-date, in case there are no other available laptops.

Call and Reserve

You can now check for the availability of laptops by phone. Call the Health Library to check if a laptop you require is available and then request for it to be reserved for you. The laptop will be held for 1 hour and you must collect the laptop within this hour. The latest we will place a reserve on a laptop is 6:30pm (weekdays) and 2:30pm (Saturday). This service is only available if there are sufficient laptops available within the library.
