Brain Tumour Awareness Month - March 2021

Brain tumours are indiscriminate; they can affect anyone at any age. What’s more, they kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. A brain tumour is a growth of cells in the brain that multiplies in an abnormal, uncontrollable way. Brain tumours are graded according to how fast they grow and how likely they are to grow back after treatment. Grade 1 and 2 tumours are low grade, and grade 3 and 4 tumours are high grade. The UK Brain Tumour Awareness Month campaign in March was founded by Member Charities of Brain Tumour Research in 2004 in order to raise vital awareness of the chronic lack of funding, to influence key decision makers and to challenge UK Governments and larger cancer charities to invest more nationally in order to sustain the vital long-term research that’s so desperately needed.
