Online Training Opportunities at the Health Library

 You need to find the best evidence to support your clinical decision-making. Do you need some help using our resources or do you want to improve your searching skills? 

We offer a number of options to support you: 


1-to-1 online training 

The training team at the Health Library are offering 1-to-1 training sessions, delivered online via MS Teams. Just let the team know what help you need and they will design a session just for you. You don’t need to have Teams to participate; you’ll be sent a link to join the session. 

Webinars 

We are offering online webinars during December for UHNM staff who wish to develop their literature searching skills. These are scheduled. You will learn how to put together a literature search plan and apply it to the main NHS databases in order to find articles. 

Getting Started etutorials 

We have created a number of online tutorials to help you to get started with our most popular resources. The tutorials are available online at any time. They include presentations, demonstrations, videos and interactive quizzes. 

Information Skills etutorials 

You can improve your information skills to help you to find the right information you need more effectively. Complete our Information Skills online tutorials to learn how to create a literature search plan and find articles for your assignments, research and work. 

Online Guides and Support 

There is additional help for our major resources on our website. We include links to help resources provided by the publishers as well as listing our own help options. These include videos, guides and help pages.

Library FAQs for Keele Students

  You might be really familiar with using a library service, particularly if you have already spent some time on campus. However, here are a few questions we get asked which may be slightly different from what you are used to: Is there 24hr access to the Health Library? The Health Library at the CEC is available during staffed hours. You can find the opening hours on our website . Please take note that opening hours may be reduced during holiday periods. Do I need to use my Keele card to enter the library? Yes, you will need to swipe your card at the access point to enter the Health Library. We are currently operating under covid-secure conditions. This means that there is one point of entry – the side door by the entrance opposite the footbridge. Hone your critical appraisal skills with NEJM Evidence

What is NEJM Evidence? New England Journal of Medicine Evidence (NEJM Evidence) is an online journal which publishes original research and focuses on clinical trial design and decision-making. It often includes an editorial article to accompany the research article which analyses and appraises the trial design and discusses any problematic elements.
