Literature Searching webinars for NHS staff

The Health Library training team will be delivering literature searching training via webinars , during December. Introduction to Literature Searching     This is a  1.5   hour  course, aimed at NHS staff who want to conduct a literature search using MEDLINE and other major healthcare databases. These are currently available using the HDAS (Healthcare Advanced Databases) system that can be accessed with your NHS Athens account     You will learn how to:   Clarify a search topic   Choose appropriate sources for searching   Devise search strategies   Search for and retrieve relevant information   Sort and Save your searches     Please note that, due to covid-19 restrictions, this session will be  conducted online  via Microsoft Teams by a one of the Health Library trainers. Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month - November 2020

The pancreas is a gland that produces digestive juices and hormones. Pancreatic cancer is when abnormal cells in the pancreas start to divide and grow in an uncontrolled way and forms a growth/tumour. If left untreated, the cells can grow into surrounding blood vessels or organs such as the small bowel. These cancer cells may even spread to other parts of the body. Around 10,300 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the UK each year. It is the 10th most common cancer in the UK. Pancreatic cancer is more common in older people. More than 45 out of 100 people diagnosed (more than 45%) are aged 75 and over. Pancreatic cancer is uncommon in people under 40 years old. In the past 10 years, pancreatic cancer rates have increased. In England, pancreatic cancer is more common in people living in poorer areas.
