BMJ Best Practice available for all NHS staff via OpenAthens login

The BMJ Best Practice evidence-based reference tool is available to all NHS staff. You can access up-to-date guidelines and recommendations for a range of conditions and diseases, including a recent topic on coronavirus / covid-19.

You can get information on theory, diagnosis, screening, treatment, follow-up and more. Important updates are presented on the home page. Calculators, patient leaflets, images and videos are also available within the tool. An app is available for information on the go.

To access BMJ Best Practice you will need to login with your NHS OpenAthens username, then create a BMJ account so that your preferences can be stored.

Reminder: Health Library open for reduced hours over the Christmas holidays 2025

  The Health Library will have reduced opening hours over the Christmas holidays. Wednesday 24th December - Open 9am-4pm Thursday 25th- Sunday 28th December -  Closed Monday 29th- Wednesday 31st December - Open 9am-4pm Thursday 1st January -  Closed Friday 2nd January - Open 9am-4pm Normal opening times resume Saturday 3rd January.
