NHS OpenAthens Updates October 2024

 The latest NHS OpenAthens bulletin is now available on the Health Library website. Read this for articles on  managing your NHS OpenAthens username, a welcome to new starters, key information on the website, getting your evidence updates and relevant library news. If you have not received your OpenAthens bulletin to your UHNM email inbox please check whether your account can receive external emails. It is important that you can receive emails from OpenAthens in order to maintain your account and continue to access resources. Contact UHNM IT if you are experiencing problems with your email account.

Keele students - make the most of your Health Library

If you are a Keele healthcare student studying at the CEC or on placement within the NHS, make sure you make the most of your Health Library. The Health Library, based in the CEC on the Royal Stoke site, is a joint Keele University / NHS library. Your Keele card is your library membership card. Use our good quality resources and develop your skills to make your studies a success. If you’re studying at the CEC, working on placement or just live near-by, feel free to pop in. Training opportunities for UHNM staff

Make the most of NHS resources and develop your skills by signing up to our training opportunities. Courses are available online or face-to-face and are delivered by our qualified librarian team. The following training sessions are available to UHNM staff: NHS Knowledge and Library Hub The Knowledge and Library Hub lets you search multiple healthcare resources including NHS Core content and UHNM subscribed resources. This course includes searching for full text of journal articles and a brief look at databases and point of care tools such as BMJ Best practice. Literature Searching in Medline Database This 1 to 1 session focuses on searching the medicine databases for health literature. This session includes running and saving a search, accessing full text journals and where to search next. Baby Loss Awareness Week, 9th - 15th October 2024

B aby Loss Awareness Week takes place every October and provides an opportunity for all those effected by baby loss to come together in remembrance and commemoration.  The campaign also aims to raise awareness of the impact of pregnancy and baby loss and the importance of bereavement support.  Many of the UK’s leading charities involved in Baby Loss Awareness Week also work on driving change and helping to prevent baby deaths and pregnancy loss.   RELATED LIBRARY RESOURCES     The Health Libraries, both at the Royal Stoke and County Hospitals, offer numerous resources related to this topic.
