IMPORTANT - IT Services Disruption (Disaster Recovery Day) Saturday 9th June 2018

Important message from Keele IT

For the past few years IT Services has run a disaster recovery exercise on the central IT service.
This year we will be conducting tests on two separate Saturdays: 9th June 2018 and 14th July 2018. Each day will commence at 07:00 and continue until the early evening.
This is our opportunity to measure the levels of disruption to key services in the event of building and/or network loss. ​
​Please see below the list of services which will be at out of action or affected during the day

Services which will be out of action on June 9th:
  • Staff and student printing
  • Lecture capture system administration and playback, scheduled recordings will still take place if scheduled before the 9th June
  • Some commercial and business systems
  • External access to Keele systems via the VPN
  • Some local S: drive and network filestore
    ​​
    ​ (Directorates, Primary Care, 50% of taught students)​ 
  • Some disruption to PC logins in Labs or Offices
  • Eduroam Services at Newcastle Library

  • Google mail and associated GSuite features
  • KLE
  • SCIMS and eVision
  • Keele People
  • Enquiry management (Topdesk)
  • Eduroam and visitor wifi
  • University website
  • Campus telephones
  • Any externally hosted systems
  • Some local S: drive and network filestore
  • Printing
  • Topdesk - servicedesk.keele.ac.uk

There may be some temporary disruption during these days as services switch over
​during early evening when
 both the KLE and SCIMS will be at risk for a period of 20-30 minutes.


IT:Connect will be open in the [CAMPUS] Library on each day between 9 am - 12noon and 2 pm - 5 pm if there are any urgent enquiries please contact them on 01782 733636 or alternatively please email it.service@keele.ac.uk, you will also be able to contact them via twitter @KeeleUni_IT.

Early closing time for Wednesday 08/01/2025

The Health Library at the CEC will be closing earlier than usual tomorrow evening, at 6:00 PM (Wednesday, 8th January). This is a change from our regular closing time of 8:00 PM. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. If you currently have a 1-Day Loan Laptop, a member of the Library team will contact you individually.
