Training sessions

Due to staff shortages, the following timetabled courses have now been cancelled until further notice. Current Awareness (elements of this course will be integrated into Health Information on the Internet and Literature Searching) . RefWorks (alternate sessions may be available at the Main Campus Library ) . Individual assistance on either topic may be available as a one to one session on request.

Mental Health Bulletin No. 230 November 16th 2009

Mental Health and Social Care Current Awareness Bulletin No.230 is now available and can be viewed by clicking here . The bulletin is designed to provide current awareness updates for mental health and social care services covering areas such as addictions, dementia and learning disabilities amongst others. Newsletter produced by Eastern Counties Library and Knowledge Services Alliance. Content covers updates from the Department of Health, national and international news and condition specific updates. Useful conferences and websites are also listed.

Interactive cases

The New England Journal has launched a series of interactive cases . Each case presents an evolving patient history and a series of questions and exercises designed to test diagnostic and therapeutic skills. The tests are free to register for and will provide immediate feed back on your answers. Progress can be saved so you can leave it and return to carry on work at a later date. A link at the end of the case leads to a CME examination; you can claim up to 2 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ for participating.

The Library will be running a series of outreach promotional events to raise awareness on how we can support NHS staff in the work place, for KSF, course work or own personal interest concerning health information. Please feel free to visit our stall on 20th Nov (10am -2pm)in the Dining Room, City General, or 23rd Nov (11am - 2pm) in the Coffee Shop, Royal Infirmary.
